"THE WALKING DEAD" SEASON 2 'EMOTIONAL'

18 March 2011,
Andrew Lincoln has suggested that the second season of The Walking Dead will be more emotional. Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, told Entertainment Weekly that the survivors will start to struggle psychologically.

"I think the second season is going to be even more emotionally charged and dig even deeper into these survivors handling surviving," he said. "Why them? Where do they go? What do they do now?"

He added: "The CDC was their big hope and that's gone so the future is bleak, but humans also have a strong survival instinct."

THE WALKING DEAD SEASON 2 'PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS'

17 March 2011,
Here's the latest EW spoiler on The Walking Dead Season 2:

I feel like Walking Dead has completely dropped the storyline with the father-son duo who saved Rick in episode 1. Will Morgan and Duane reappear in season 2? — Sarah

I actually answered this in last week’s column, but speaking of being saved, Andrew Lincoln tells EW’s Carrie Bell that when we return for season 2, the characters will be struggling psychologically with being survivors. “I think the second season is going to be even more emotionally charged and dig even deeper into these survivors handling surviving. Why them? Where do they go? What do they do now?” Lincoln told us at PaleyFest. “The CDC was their big hope and that’s gone so the future is bleak but humans also have a strong survival instinct.”

SPOILER: THE DETERIORATION OF "RICK" AS LEADER!

9 March 2011,
Get the latest The Walking Dead spoilers from TV Guide's Mega Buzz coloumn below:
Q: Any scoop on The Walking Dead? —  Kyle
A: Andrew Lincoln tells us he can't wait to play the deterioration of Rick as the leader, but Sarah Wayne Callies is just as excited because it means Lori will get her chance to shine. "Right now, Lori has the luxury of indulging in her own sorrow and sadness and fear and loss partly because Rick is so strong," Callies tell us. "Marriages are often a yin-yang balance, which is to say, the weaker Rick becomes, the stronger Lori will become to support him."

SPOILERS - NEW CHARACTERS IN "TWD" SEASON 2!

9 March 2011,
Below is the latest "The Walking Dead" spoilers from TVLine:

Question: I’d like any scoopage you have on The Walking Dead. —Ruth
Ausiello: When the gang stumbles on Hershel’s Farm in the early part of Season 2 they’ll encounter “a lot of new characters,” reveals exec producer Robert Kirkman, noting the new blood is necessary to “replenish the ranks” as the body count climbs. And from the sounds of things, it will climb. Kirkman says the sense if danger will be heightened dramatically when the AMC drama returns. “In the first season, there was a lot of hubbub in Atlanta and then there was a lot of downtime at the farm. We’re definitely going to have quiet moments and everything, but being on the road in a world like this and in that traveling caravan, running out of food, having to stop to get supplies despite being in a dangerous area, there’s going to be some really high drama [and] intense stuff.”

"TWD" - NO IMMEDIATE PLANS TO KILL OFF "SHANE"

8 March 2011,
The Walking Dead producer Frank Darabont has reiterated that he has no immediate plans to kill off Shane (Jon Bernthal). He told TV Guide that the AMC series will continue to deviate from the original comic, in which the character died after just six issues.

"I was really surprised how quickly Shane bought it [in the comic]," he explained. "Once you start fleshing these characters out... you really are loath to get rid of them too quickly." Bernthal himself joked that he was "relieved" by Darabont's decision to extend Shane's story arc.

"I'm glad I still have a job," he said. "There's a lot more that they can squeeze out of this character."

Comic creator Robert Kirkman previously claimed that Shane's prolonged televison life makes him a "complete unknown for [comic] fans".

ANDREW LINCOLN WANTS A DARKER "RICK"

8 March 2011,
Andrew Lincoln has revealed that he hopes to explore the dark side of his Walking Dead character Rick Grimes. The actor told Zap2it that he would like to see Rick "deteriorate" in the AMC drama's second season.

"He has good intentions, but I think that I want [the show] to adhere closely to the narrative in the book," he explained. "It's that the pressure, the responsibility, the domestic situations [and] the parenting has [taken] its toll on him. He can't keep sustaining this."

He added that exploring different sides to the character has so far been "very satisfying".

"It's a big responsibility... but I love playing this character," he admitted. "I love it. He's so complicated and so driven and so different to me." Lincoln also praised the show's high body count and willingness to kill off its central characters.

"I think it's just one of the great things we're afforded in this series," he said. "A bad decision can cost a life in this [show] and the stakes are so high, so hopefully that makes for real raw, compelling drama."

"THE WALKING DEAD" WHISPER REVEAL IN SEASON 2!

8 March 2011,
The Walking Dead's executive producer Robert Kirkman has promised that viewers will find out what Jenner whispered to Rick.

In the first season finale, Jenner (Noah Emmerich) passed on a message to Rick (Andrew Lincoln) which appeared to shock him, but it is not yet clear what he said.

"That's definitely something we're going to be dealing with in the second season," Kirkman told TV Line.

"It's not a tease that we want to go on too long, so we'll definitely kind of wrap that up in this season... I think people are going to be kind of shocked at what was said there." Meanwhile, Lincoln revealed that he already knows what Jenner whispered to Rick but explained that he hasn't told anyone, adding: "Even my wife doesn't know!" - Digital Spy

"THE WALKING DEAD" PRISON ARC IS POSSIBLE!

8 March 2011,
Frank Darabont has hinted that The Walking Dead television series may adapt the original comic's prison storyline.

He recently told reporters that the story arc, in which Rick Grimes and his fellow survivors take refuge in an abandoned Georgia prison, could form the basis for future episodes.

"It's the joke of my career," said the Shawshank Redemption director. "I keep getting sent to prison! It's such a damn good idea though, isn't it?"

He added: "That was a moment in the comic where I read it and went, 'That's too damn cool not to do'. It's such a great idea." However, Darabont dismissed the rumour that Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) would be revealed as comic character The Governor, who eventually leads a siege on the prison.

"Merle will not be The Governor because... what a lame, obvious choice that would be," he suggested. "Whether we'll see Merle or Morgan Jones (Lennie James) again remains to be determined." Comic creator Robert Kirkman previously revealed that the show's characters will visit Hershel's farm in the upcoming second season.

KIRKMAN TALKS "THE WALKING DEAD" SEASON 2!

8 March 2011,
The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has confirmed more details about the upcoming second season.

He told Give Me My Remote that the new run will introduce more characters from the original comic, including farm-owner Hershel and his daughter Maggie.

"We're definitely going to Hershel's farm, and anyone who's familiar with the graphic novels is going to know that there are a lot of characters that come with that," he said. "We're going to see Hershel's daughter Maggie and we'll possibly see a little bit of romance for Steven Yeun's character Glenn, so that's going to be pretty exciting."

The writer added that future episodes will continue "ramping up everything that we did in the first season".

"We had six episodes on the first season, now we have 13," he explained. "We can kind of let things breathe and get to know the characters a little bit better. I think the second season is going to blow the first season out of the water."

Kirkman also dismissed the suggestion that the television show has strayed too far from the original comic.

He argued: "There's always a good reason for [the changes] and usually the ideas are great, so I'm very open to the twists and turns that come about and how it enriches what we have." - Digital Spy

KIRKMAN: CHARLIE SHEEN IN 'THE WALKING DEAD'?

8 March 2011,
The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has joked that he would happy to have troubled actor Charlie Sheen join the cast of the AMC adaptation of his comic series.

Kirkman, who is serving as executive producer on the show's upcoming second season, said that he thinks that Sheen is "awesome" and could have any part he wanted.

"Charlie call us, we will totally make that happen," Kirkman told The Hollywood Reporter. "We'll do whatever you want."

The comic writer even went as far as to joke that he would recast the show's lead role of Rick Grimes, currently played by British actor Andrew Lincoln.

"We'll recast you as Rick," Kirkman added. "Andrew Lincoln will find something else to do." - Digital Spy.
